189 AD... It was a time of suffering and death, a time of tyranny and heroism, but more importantly, it was the Rise of Heroes...
Luoyang was where it all started... Flames sprouted out of Luoyang as the Yellow Turban Rebels charged toward the palace led by Zhang Jiao, who was dubbed: The Yellow Emperor. Shao, the Han Emperor, lacking any military abilities whatsoever, was hidden deep in the palace by his officials. Peasants such as Ryou Kin, Zhen Xu and Ba Zeng became leaders of men as they joined in the attack on the Han Capital.
However, in the midst of the attack stood a lone warrior, guarding the gate of the Han Palace to the utmost of his physical abilities. He had been sentenced to imprisonment by the Emperor's officials the moment the rebellion began... In his eye was the gleam of a tiger... This man, was no other than Zhang Liao, the Fury Of The Leopard. Liao guarded the gate for hours on end, killing all who wished for entry, this criminal was now fighting for justice. Through a ploy, however, Zhang Liao was defeated by Ba Zeng and Ryou Kin's army.
People say that Liao died that day, others say that he escaped and lived on, undercover as a peasant. Mysteriously though, Ba Zeng and Ryou Kin abandoned their plans of the attack and left the city after defeating Zhang Liao.
During this time, regional leaders such as Yuan Shao, Ishimaru Akai, Gongsun Shang, and the famous Duke Liu Bei with their respective generals and army had arrived to aid the Emperor. Zhang Liao had stalled enough for Han Reinforcements to arrive. Charging from the south, Ishimaru Akai of Changan broke down the southern Luoyang gate and continued to charge merciessly against the rebels under Zhang Jiao.
Dukes Yuan Shao and Liu Bei had arrived from the northeast, along with their officers, captain Wen Chou and colonel Yan Liang. Together they marched into Luoyang and, along with Akai, pincered the Yellow Rebels, forcing them into the palace after many minor skirmishes. The tides of war were now with the Han.
However, a twist of fate had occurred... the Emperor, who was now being relentlessly hunted down by the rebels had fallen through a trap door, leading him to the Audience Hall, where Zhang Jiao was making a final stand... After breaking his back, the Emperor was met by the Yellow Emperor, who raised his blade for the final attack. With that, the son of Heaven was murdered in cold blood by the vile Zhang Jiao.
Angered by this event, Yan Liang, who had been raiding the palace charged forward and managed to wound the Emperor with an arrow, but was met by serious injuries and forced to retreat after saving the nearly-captured Ishimaru Akai.
After their retreat, the Zhang Jiao forces were met by the recovered Ishimaru Akai and Gongsun Shang. Slaughter followed as the furious Akai was defeated and forced to retreat, while Gongsun Shang, who had been bested by the Emperor's murderer withdrew into Yuan Shao's ranks.
With vengeful armies, the forces of Akai and Shang were substituted by the two pillars of the Han Empire, Liu Bei and Yuan Shao. With their armies at full strength, the two Dukes had pushed Zhang Jiao into the palace itself, the future of China hung in the balance.
However, once again, the tides of battle turned. With a stroke of his hand, Zhang Jiao had conjured up Phantom Warriors. Against their unbeatable enemies, Shao and Bei were pushed back.
Knowing the odds, Yuan Shao took the opportunity to withdraw to Shang Dang where he would plot against Zhang Jiao. Liu Bei, a direct descendant of the Han would not give in nor retreat, Bei was captured temporarily, until the most unexpected rescuer arrived...
Down from the walls jumped the recently-escaped Sun Ce, a lone warrior. Eventually, help came from all sides as Sun Shang Xiang and Guan Yu also arrived to assist. Through their combined efforts, they were able to bring Liu Bei to safety, however, Sun Ce was captured and once again held captive.
Thus, the day was won by the Yellow Turban Rebels who left with nothing but the Imperial Jade Seal and left Luoyang in ruin...
Ishimaru of the Japanese Akai clan had returned to Changan to recuperate. He was soon joined by a popular figure, widely known as the Hero of Chaos. The man's name was Cao Cao... After a few days however, the Hero of Chaos mysteriously disappeared...
Not long after the strange occurrence, Akai was attacked by a raider with the name, Lu Honpo. Still wounded and unable to fight, Ishimaru immediately abandoned the city and wandered the land for days. Changan fell to the hands of Lu Honpo.
The wounded man found refuge with the kindly Duke Liu Bei of Xuchang. Japanese by nationality and culture, Ishimaru realized he had brought shame to the Akai name and so, with honor, committed seppuku in front of Liu Xuande and a man... Rumored to be his secret admirer, Zhao Yun.
Meanwhile, Zhang Jiao, who had recently conquered the Han and all of it's loyalists begun preparations for a battle against Yuan Shao in Shangdang.
190 AD... A time of uncertainty and the rise of powers...
Yuan Shao, in response to Jiao's threats expanded his territory northwards to Ji where he strengthened his defenses. He was joined by Gongsun Shang who had been impressed by Yuan Shao's heroics in Luoyang.
Shao, who had been dubbed an Angel of the Han along with Liu Bei declared an attack on Zhang Jiao in Ye where the fate of two enemies would be decided...
Wen Chou and Yan Liang mobilized and brought uncertainty to Zhang Jiao's forces, his magic was repelled with the blood of pigs, collected by Yuan Shao as a counter to his magic.
However, after a long and action-packed battle, both forces were forced to retreat due to their supplies, the battle was forced into stalemate.
