We all want a rotk site, so I am gonna give you all the help i can So i'll just stick anything I think might help you here instead of clogging up the other thread (because I plan on putting images here and coding)
Feel free to use anything I suggest/offer, anything that is not mine I'll put a * beside it so I don't get any smart arses telling me otherwise lol =P just let me know if you want anything.
Storybased Ideas
Three Kingdoms
First idea isn't mine at all, its the standard Wei vs Wu vs Shu. From there you could decide what will occur with land, battles and know from the word go which officers are where. Its simple, easy to understand, but doesn't offer anything truly unique in itself (not including what you do with it in terms of story progression).
The four kingdom type you shouldn't use
Yeah I am designing a site with 4, so you should by not by any means think its a good idea It's terrible! You shouldn't even consider it, it's just that bad! But nahhh its easy enough to figure out isn't it really, lots of possible reasons, think it through then you have four forces instead of three >.>
Rules/Systems
Stats, stats, stats are for t**ts =o
No to stats, like Sam said they're terrible on these sites as we haven't used them since like 2004 properly lol =]. If you do use them, perhaps have everyone defaulted to begin with, then allow them to raise them through battles and other rps, just dont have stats that severally punish people with low stats...
Cities over general areas
Most rotk sites of old had cities as the areas to roleplay in, however the latest breed have had the generic areas like woodland and borders come into play. both have advantages of course, but perhaps we should look to a more generic board structure, but simply make them more action based, aka have more borders, no mans land type areas and important strategic cities instead of cluttering the site with places like Bei Ping where no one goes.
